Due to the earthquake disaster in Turkey, the start of the spring semester in all higher education institutions has been postponed until further notice by the Higher Education Council. 

Below is the full statement from the Council:

"- The opening of the spring semester at universities has been temporarily postponed until further notice.

9 February 2023

The Council of Higher Education (YÖK) has temporarily postponed the start of the spring semester at universities until further notice due to the earthquake in Kahramanmaraş.

In its statement, YÖK said:

"Due to the earthquake that occurred on 6 February 2023, which was centred in Kahramanmaraş and directly affected 10 provinces;

Students from this region who are studying in our higher education institutions in other provinces will not be able to participate in education and training,

Some of these students' relatives have been directly affected by the disaster,

Our academic and administrative staff, especially our students at our campuses, are involved in search, rescue and relief efforts,

As a result, the start of the spring semester in all higher education institutions has been temporarily postponed until further notice".
